2024 Honda Prologue–After the unsuccessful Clarity car, Honda’s second try at an EV, the 2024 Prologue SUV, seems to be on track. The company’s efforts this time around should be competitive because of a cooperative development arrangement with General Motors. Since Honda has provided official photos, we can finally examine Prologue’s style and interior amenities as well as get an idea of its total size. However, other information, such as the powertrain and driving range, is still murky. It will replace the CR-V in the Honda range and resembles the mid-size Passport in terms of size.
2024 Honda Prologue Exterior & Interior
The outside design is tastefully simple. The Prologue in the image has 21-inch wheels, a big sunroof, and basic LED lighting fixtures. It borrows features from previous Honda cars inside, such as an upright infotainment display in tablet form, a streamlined dashboard, and a clutter-free center console. The platform for The Prologue was created in collaboration with General Motors.
Although the interior of the Prologue contains hints about its Chevrolet heritage, Honda has done well to give the cabin an appearance that is distinctively its own. None of the Blazer EV’s decorative flourishes, such as its circular vents, brightly colored surfaces, or tilting infotainment display, are present in the Chevy’s more plainly designed dashboard. Instead, the Honda’s layout is similar to that of the Passport SUV and Civic compact car, with a clean, subdued style. We anticipate a roomier interior with more baggage capacity as Honda claims the Prologue’s wheelbase is 8.0 inches longer than the CR-and V’s the EV model is also 5.0 inches wider. The center of the Prologue’s dashboard is occupied by an 11.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. We’re not clear if the system will use a modified version of GM’s Google-based system or the most recent software interface from Honda. In any scenario, we anticipate the availability of technologies like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, in-dash navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Additionally, the 11.0-inch digital gauge display seen in the pictures is probably standard. Photos show a Bose stereo system with tweeter speakers in the Prologue’s A-pillars, but the standard stereo will likely be a non-branded model with fewer speakers.
2024 Honda Prologue Powertrain
Honda has not yet discussed engine options, but it has confirmed that all-wheel drive will be an option for the Prologue. Expect it to use one of the dual-motor configurations found on the Chevrolet Blazer EV, though perhaps not the SS’s 557-hp engine, which has the longest range. Similar to the Blazer EV, the entry-level option should be a single motor FWD powertrain with a 250-mile range (402 kilometers).
2024 Honda Prologue Price & Release date
The Japanese manufacturer anticipates selling 2 million units of 30 new EVs globally by the year 2030. The Prologue will mark the start of the growth in North America in 2024, and models built on Honda’s own e:Architecture will follow in 2026 and 2027, respectively. These models will all be produced in the Americas. Honda hasn’t officially disclosed the Prologue’s price or trim levels, but we anticipate that the new car will start at roughly $45,000 and increase in price from there.
