2023 BMW 4 Series–In essence, the sporty BMW 4 Series is a more opulent BMW 3 Series sedan. The Gran Coupe is a four-door hatchback sedan with a sloping fastback roofline that is also available as a sleek coupe, a convertible with a retractable hardtop, or as a convertible. Even though some people might not like the most recent iteration of BMW’s twin-kidney grille, it stands out in an era of imitative car design. BMW interiors have never been particularly spectacular, but the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster in the 4 Series are great, and the center stack is functional. For adults, the rear seat of the coupe provides, at best, inadequate headroom and legroom. The Gran Coupe is only somewhat better because tall passengers have limited space due to the roofline’s sharp incline. When measured from front to back, the trunk of the 4 Series is enormous, yet moving large goods is challenging.
Two USB ports, Bluetooth, real-time traffic, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 205-watt, 10-speaker stereo system with a year of SiriusXM satellite radio are all included in the 4 Series’ standard entertainment system. When driving normally and forcefully, the suspension feels comfortable and provides superb road feel. Similar performance and comfort levels are provided by the Audi A5.
